China Social Assistance Foundation (CSAF) launched a nationwide campaign in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province, on January 20 to help the impoverished childless elderly in rural areas to live a better life.

CSAF statistics show China has more than 5 million elderly who live in the countryside and have no family and no means of income.

Individuals or organizations that want to help them can donate 200 yuan ($29) to an elderly person, or 10,000 to 30,000 yuan to affiliated nursing homes.
