2010-02-03

Shijiazhaung, capital of Hebei province, plans to spend 10.68 billion yuan in 2010 to upgrade its transportation system, according to a meeting on transportation held in the city on February 1.

Nearly seven billion yuan will go to fifteen major transportation projects. Twelve of them are new projects to be launched this year, including the Shijiazhuang to Taiyuan section of the Beijing to Taiyuan Highway and the Shijiazhuang to Xibaipo Highway.

Over 900 kilometers of roads with an investment of 620 million yuan will be constructed in rural areas to improve transportation in 120 villages.

2.63 billion yuan will also be spent on the construction of four comprehensive transportation stations.

The municipal government also plans to buy 300 environmentally friendly buses to extend bus service to all its counties.
