Education and health of women and children in Hebei has improved, according to the Hebei Provincial Women's Federation.

The Hebei provincial women's federation provides employment training for 400,000 urban and rural women a year, and helps find jobs for 40,000 women. At the end of 2008, the number of employed women in the province reached to16.80 million, accounting for 45.1% of total employment.

At the end of 2008, the enrollment rate of children from 3 to 12 years old, the gross enrollment rate of middle and high school female students and the literacy rate for young women achieved the national level. In addition, medium and top-level female professionals respectively account for 54% and 42%.of the total number of professionals in the province

The rate of infant mortality, 38 per million, meets the goal for 2010. The rate of women giving birth in the hospital now stands at 95 percent.

A series of acts has also been issued for protecting legal rights of women and children, including the Act on Prevention of Domestic Violence of Hebei Province.

The chief focus for the federation this year includes granting small loans to women, constructing training sites for women’s employment, building village schools for women and enlarging the work spheres for women.
