Salaries raised after multi-party talks
2010-08-10

The salary of private sector workers in Zhangjiakou city of North China's Hebei province has been raised after multi-party negotiations, according to the report of Worker's Daily on August 10, 2010.

Private business in 2009 accounts for 58 percent of the city's economy and profits from these enterprises increase at a speed of 20 percent year on year.

However, the salary of employees failed to match the development of the companies.

In order to secure the well-being of workers, the local government launched a negotiation campaign involving the ruling party, government, labor unions, enterprise and workers.

Under the lead of the local government, labor unions would hold talks with employers after a consultation process with workers.

In 2010, over 2,574 enterprises raised the salary for staff and mediation cases in pay disputes dropped by 21 percent compared to 2009 due to the multi-party talks.
