North China’s Shijiazhuang airport opened the area’s first low-price flight to Hong Kong through Spring Airlines Thursday.

It’s an important move towards Heibei Airport’s target to develop Shijiazhuang airport into a regional airline hub and the “second airport” for the capital Beijing, Heibei Airport Management Co said.

The flight number 9C8571/2 is an Airbus A320, which will run return flights every Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

Spring Airlines said over half the passengers in the maiden flight on Thursday came from Beijing.
