2012-08-21

Boxiang county in Hebei province was officially named “China’s Grape Town” by the China Forest Economy Association on August 18.

Grape cultivation has become the pillar industry of the county due to more than 20 years of coordinated efforts. Boxiang is now the biggest table grape production base in South Hebei. By 2011, grape growing area reached over 36,000 mu, with yearly output amounting to 57,000 tons and over 200 million yuan.

The county has over a dozen varieties of grape, such as Kyoho, Crinson, Jingya and Jingxiu. It passed the pollution-free fruits’ production environment assessment and registered several new brands in 2003. The county houses many professional fruit production villages which have helped industrialize grape production and sales.
