Shijiazhuang holds press conference to mark new achievements

Shijiazhuang held a press conference around the theme "new economic leap" on Sept 17. It was the first press conference to salute the 18th National Party Congress by displaying Shijiazhuang's new achievements.

At the conference, Wu Shuke, the spokesman of the Shijiazhuang Development and Reform Commission, gave a detailed introduction of Shijiazhuang's economic development, which focuses on "changing development methods and realizing new economic growth". At the same time, he also answered questions from the press on the changes in Shijiazhuang's industrial proportion, the important progress made in bio-medicine and electric information industries, and the development of the industrial park.

Over 10 years, Shijiazhuang's economic aggregate has taken three great leaps forward. The regional GDP has grown 2.5 times at an annual rate of 12 percent. The per capita GDP has quadrupled, reaching 39,715 yuan ($6,304) with a 16.1 percent growth rate. The financial revenue in the first 6 months of 2012 reached 31.2 billion yuan, equal to 2009's total revenue.

By issuing 62 general and specialized strategies and plans and 15 supporting policies, Shijiazhuang has sped up the upgrade of traditional industries, built a modern industrial system, and gained prominent achievements in adjusting its industrial structure.

In addition, Shijiazhuang has injected vigor to economic development by optimizing the development environment and proactively implementing industrial programs. As a result, more qualified programs with increasing investments have been efficiently implemented in Shijiazhuang.
