Langfang's fire detachment introduces advanced life detection instrument
2012-09-28

An American GSSI radar life detection instrument was introduced to Langfang's fire detachment on Sept 28. The instrument can find life in 30 seconds and confirm results within 120 seconds.

The radar detection instrument can detect a person’s breath within a 5-meter radius and detect movement within 10 meters. What’s more, it can precisely report how deep a person is buried.

Li Chong, deputy section chief of the equipment department of the Langfang fire detachment, said that the detector can not only be widely used to find survivors in fires and earthquake landslides, but it can also safeguard rescuer security.

According to Li, the instrument fills a gap in the detachment’s life detection tools, making the detachment more qualified in building collapse and earthquake rescue. At the same time, it also marks a great step forward for Langfang’s fire detachment rescue equipment capabilities.
