Work on a new bike rack for bicycle rentals has been finished on May 8 in Shijiazhuang, meaning that 60,000 bicycles will be ready to help locals live a green life in 2014. The provincial capital will have 1,000 racks where residents can borrow or return a bicycle, next year. Three of them, around crowded shopping centers are, or will be, available to rent in this week.

The three racks are pilot projects to test the local response and, if they prove successful, more will be added, an official in charge of this project has said. Locals can apply for a smart rental card with an ID card at designated places. The first hour is free of charge, with a certain additional charge for additional hours, with the details yet to be released.
