Hebei casts a cold eye on traffic security
2013-06-17

Road safety in Hebei province is going to be under scrutiny over the next three months, its public security department has announced, in accordance with State Council work safety guidelines, to try to cut the number of road accidents, since June 18. An official in charge said they will deal with all aspects of road safety, including vehicles, drivers, roads, passengers, and transportation companies.

This new round of inspections will also focus on five types of vehicles - passenger cars, student transportation, goods carriers, dangerous cargo haulers, and cargo haulers - in rural areas. And, any vehicle that fails to pass technical and security checks will be penalized.

Various departments will do their own checks on expressways, rural roads and mountain roads, especially those that have seen a lot of accidents in recent times.

Authorities say they will make every effort to locate potential safety risks either in road management or other aspects and there will be serious penalties for anyone found guilty of a violation, in hopes of improving road safety in the province.
