Wholesale market to move out of Beijing
2013-12-23

A large garment wholesale market in Beijing is expected to move to Hebei province in 2014 to help ease heavy traffic in the Chinese capital, China Business Journal reported.

Chen Gang, deputy mayor of Beijing, said Beijing and Hebei province have reached a cooperative framework agreement to move the market to Hebei.

Located near Beijing Zoo, the wholesale market, which was built in the 1980s, covers a business area of more than 300,000 square meters.

The clothing market, which includes 13,000 wholesale booths, is one of the major garment wholesale markets, employing more than 30,000 people.

Annual trading volume at the market is more than 20 billion yuan ($3.25 billion).
