Leave for Tangshan by bus and first visit Tangshan Anti-Earthquake Heroes Monument, which stands on the square in the downtown area. It is magnificent and spectacular. Thirty meters tall and faced with granite, the monument consists of four stretching giant arms, towering into the sky. It symbolizes the springing up of the buildings of the New Tangshan and the spirit that man will triumph over natural disasters. The four sides of the monument are decorated with eight pieces of relief sculptures in four groups, recording the nationwide support to the disaster-hit regions of Tangshan. On the right of the monument is the "Tangshan Earthquake Data Exhibition Hall,” housing all the materials about the earthquake, anti-earthquake and disaster relief. There are seven extant earthquake sites, including the original collapsed scenes of the buildings of reinforced concrete structures and reinforced-concrete frames, earth surface cracks, and dislocated tree rows and underground water pipes, etc. The earthquake sites are for visit and earthquake investigation. Then return to hotel after dinner.

Leave for the Eastern Royal Tombs of the Qing Dynasty by bus after breakfast. It's located at Malan Valley of Zunhua city in Hebei province, and is China's largest group of royal mausoleums with the most complete architectural system. It consists of 5 mausoleums for 5 emperors, four mausoleums for 14 empresses, five mausoleums for 136 concubines, and one mausoleum for the princess. Construction of the tombs began in the second year of Kangxi Emperor (1663). The East Mausoleum of Qing Emperor is located to the south of Changrui Mountain, and to the east of Huanghua Mountain. In the east are the hills, and in the south are the opposite Tiantai Mountain and Yandun Mountain. The surrounding mountains and hills constitute the natural entry of the mausoleums-dragon doorway. Through the dragon doorway and the ancient archway, you will reach the entrance to the mausoleums—the red door. The stone archway is 13 meters in height and 32 meters in width, with an overall five-bay, six-column and 11-storeyed architectural structure and a hip roof carved by a piece of gigantic white marble stone. Passing through the red door, the sacred path, the archway celebrating sacred merits and divine blessings, rows of statues on both sides of the path, dragon and phoenix gate, and seven-arch and five-tone bridge, you will go directly to the mausoleum of Emperor Shunzhi - Xiaoling Mausoleum, which is at the center of the mausoleum area. The Eastern Royal Tombs of the Qing Dynasty have been opened up include Xiaoling Mausoleum of Emperor Shunzhi, Yuling Mausoleum of Emperor Qianlong and the underground hall of it, and the Dowager Empress Cixi of the Dingdong Mausoleum. Then return to hotel after dinner.

Leave for Chengde Imperial Mountain Summer Resort by bus after breakfast. The Imperial Mountain Summer Resort is well-known in the world, also called "Rehe Imperial Palace,” which was included in the World Heritage List in 1994. It's reputed as "Zisai Pearl" and "Chengde Ligong.” Then return to hotel after dinner.

Day 5 Chengde [Bangchui (Wooden Club) Mountain National Forest Park, Puning Temple, Puyou Temple]

Leave for Chengde after breakfast, and visit Qingchui Peak, which is located in the Qingchui Peak National Forest Park to the east of Chengde. Since it's in the shape of a Bangchui (wooden club), it's nicknamed Bangchui Mountain. Qingchui Peak used to be called "Shi Ting" (erecting stone), and is a famous mountain in Chengde. When you are walking in the urban area of Chengde, you will see the scene. The formation of Qingchui Peak can be attributed to geological movement. With over millions of years of crustal movement, numerous grotesque rocks have gradually formed in Chengde. Under the effect of long-term weathering and erosion, Danxia landform has formed, with thousands of rocks competing in beauty. Puning Temple is to the north of the Imperial Summer Villa. Because there is a giant sculpture of Buddha, it's also known as Giant Buddha Temple. The temple was constructed in the 20th year of Qianlong Emperor of Qing Dynasty (1755). Then return to hotel after dinner.

Day 6 Chengde - Qinhuangdao [Geziwo Park (Pigeon Nest Park)]

Leave for Qinhuangdao by bus after dinner. Qinhuangdao is located to the east of Hebei province. Yanshan Moutain lies in the north of the city, and Bohai Sea is to the south of the city. It has numerous natural scenes and historical resorts. Its group of historical resorts connected by the Great Wall is fascinating. Qinghuangdao has the eastern staring point of the Great Wall - Laolongtou, "First Pass Under Heaven" - Shanhaiguan, the most precipitous part of the Great Wall-Jiaoshan Great Wall, Panjiayu Great Wall, which runs directly to the bottom of the sea, and Mengjiangnv Temple, in memory of Mengjiangnv, whose tears caused the collapse of the Great Wall in one of China's four folklores. The coastline of Qinhuangdao is 124 kilometers long. The sand on the beach is fine and soft, the waves are low, and the sunshine is ample, which constitutes an ideal bathing resort. On the coast there are numerous dunes, and sliding from the top directly into the sea is an exhilarating and adventurous experience. The East Mausoleum of Qing Emperor, which is close to Qinhuangdao, is the largest group of mausoleums of Qing Dynasty, with 5 emperors, 14 empresses, and 136 concubines buried there. Several of the mausoleums have been opened up to the public. Then return to hotel after dinner.

Day 7 Qinhuangdao [Laolongtou and Shanhaiguan]

Leave for Laolongtou (literally "Old Dragon's Head") Resort by bus after dinner. It is located at a seaside highland 5 kilometers to the south of Shanghaiguan. It extends into Bohai Sea as a peninsula. The promontory highland is 25 meters above the sea level. It lies at the foot of a mountain and is surrounded by the sea. The Great Wall stands on the coast. The advantageous geographical position and exquisitely built military fortifications make it become a real military fort for the Navy and the Army. Laolongtou is the eastern starting point of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall, which extends into the sea here. The Great Wall also begins from Laolongtou, and winds westward through mountains and over rivers and desert to the Northwest. When you have climbed onto Laolongtou, you will see turbulent and infinite seas and enjoy the unique grandeur of the Great Wall on the sea. Looking out from the Chenghai Pavilion, you will see the magnificent scenes of “on the dragon head of the ten-thousand mile Great Wall, leaning against the baluster and looking out in the pavilion, the gale blowing away the clouds, and the giant waves towering in the sky, and snow floating on the sea.” Next go to the "First Pass Under Heaven"-Shanghaiguan. In the 14th year of Hongwu Emperor (1381) in Ming Dynasty, Zhongshan King Xu Da constructed Yongping Pass, Jieling Pass, and Shanhaiguan as ordered. Since it's located to the south of Yangshan Moutain and to the north of Bohai Sea, it’s called "Shanghaiguan.” Shanhaiguan Great Wall is magnificent and spectacular. It's strategically located and has been a military fort and a point of battle for the military strategists since ancient times. If you climb onto the "First Pass Under Heaven,” you will see Bohai Sea to the South and high mountains to the north. On one side is the steep precipice, conjuring up feelings of being on a battlefield in the ancient times; on the other side are the boundless sea and the Great Wall extending into the turbulent seas, displaying a unique scene of "unity of heaven and man.” Return to hotel after dinner.
