On May 19, north China’s Hebei province started a red tourism pilgrimage activity to celebrate the country’s first China Tourism Day. A ceremony was held at Li Dazhao Memorial Hall of Tangshan city to kick off the event.

Wang Xinyong, director of Hebei provincial tourism bureau, said at the opening ceremony that in recent years, Hebei has availed itself to the precious revolutionary cultural resources, and pushed forward a large group of red tourism scenic spots, such as the former site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at Xibaipo of Pingshan county, and Li Dazhao former residence and memorial hall at Leting. They are welcomed and supported by mass Party members and general public, particularly teen-agers. Wang said in the future, the province will continue to comprehensively and profoundly promote red tourism resources and revolutionary culture to attract more people to recall revolutionary deeds and go on sightseeing tours in red tourism scenic spots. The province hopes to set off a new upsurge in red tourism.
